Pierce Glynn is a firm of solicitors founded in
1997. We are based in central London but we work for individuals and
organisations from across the UK and beyond.
Our work
We specialise in two areas of law:
- Public
law, discrimination and human rights
– with a particular focus on acting in judicial review proceedings
across a broad range of subject areas from healthcare to planning
and environmental cases, and from unlawful detention case to cases
about public sector procurement and funding cuts.
- Social
welfare law
– in particular housing, community care
and social security law.
We have nationally recognised expertise in both areas (for example,
see our entries in the two leading legal directories: Chambers
and Partners 2009 and the Legal
500).
Many of our solicitors are ‘leaders in their field’, with
extensive experience of conducting high-profile test cases and related
campaigning work (see Latest Cases). However,
we are equally committed to conducting less high-profile but equally
important work for individuals, particularly those from marginalised
groups.
Our clients
Our objectives are to promote social, economic and environmental justice,
to prevent the abuse of power by public bodies, and to promote access
to justice. To that end we only act for individuals, campaign groups,
NGOs and charities.
We pride ourselves on offering a high level of care and support to
all our clients: welcoming them to our offices, taking account of
their needs, and providing clear advice throughout their cases. We
receive excellent feedback from our clients and from the referral
agencies and campaign groups that we work with.
Instructing us
If you contact us we will ask
for some basic details about your case to help us work out whether
we have the capacity and the expertise to help you.
We will also talk to you about funding
your case. If your case is urgent we will tell you immediately
whether we can help you, otherwise we usually let you know the following
day.
Unfortunately the demand for the services we provide is very high
and we are not able to help everyone who contacts us. However, if
we cannot help we will do our best to refer you to someone who can.
Environmental policy
Pierce Glynn operates an environmental policy which aims to reduce
the impact of our activities on the environment, for example by using
recycled materials in the office, limiting energy consumption and
travelling by bicycle or public transport wherever possible.
How we are regulated
Our service is provided by solicitors of England and Wales. Pierce
Glynn is regulated by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA). Our
SRA number is 262720. To access the SRA’s code of conduct for
solicitors please click
